Top 10 Tips for Managing Your Own Personal Injury Claim
A brief and general guide on what to do following a rear-end collision through no fault of your own regardless of any immediate feeling of pain.
Try to stay calm
Following a rear end collision, you may feel dazed, confused, and disoriented. Assess the situation. Allow your mind to process what just happened. Are you hurting anywhere? Do not attempt to get out of the vehicle right away.Record everything (pictures, videos, voices…)
Our first instinct is to assess the damages to our vehicles. Take pictures of your vehicle, the other party’s vehicle, and the pictures of the vehicles involved relative to their location with each other. Absent a police report or witnesses, these pictures are your best bet of proving 1) liability and 2) damages when the other party claims otherwise. Not only take pictures of the vehicles, take pictures of the other party’s insurance card and driver’s license. Any cuts, bruises, or bleeding? Take pictures of yourself.
